It was a pleasure to be the family photographer for this amazing threesome. We decided to do an outdoor photo session in one of the prettiest spots in New Jersey: the Hunterdon County Arboretum. It was a chilly day and there was still snow on the ground, but that didn’t stop us from capturing some great memories.
One, Two, Three…and Counting!
I’ve been the family photographer for Jill, Max, and their son Jack before. They are always so much fun to work with. This was an extra special occasion because it may be the last time they get professional family photographs as a family of three. That’s right, they’d recently found out they were pregnant at the time of this session. Mom and Dad were just getting ready to tell family and friends. So exciting!
Being a Family Photographer: Spontaneity is Key
One of my favorite things to do as a family photographer is to record those key moments between parents and their kids. That relationship between mom or dad and child is so precious. I try to make each of my sessions genuine, fun, and memorable for everyone involved. This means that I usually let the family—especially the kiddos—guide the photo shoot. I try not to plan things out too rigidly. Spontaneity is one of the many pleasures of family photography!
