I love to photograph families and their extended families.  Family goes beyond right?..we have mom, dad, brother, sister etc. What about the grand parents?  They like to be in pictures too.  Not only that but, its nice to have them in our family images as well.  Everyone loves to look back through the images and see that their grand parents were able to partake in a session.  I loved that about Janelle’s family session.  Actually, there were several things that I loved about their family session but I promise Ill get to those later.

She had her mom’s parents come to the session, along with her mom and brother. We had so much fun photographing them at the National Seashore in Ocean Springs MS.  We braved the hot humid weather and met up to have their session.  Her son and daughter did amazing!  I even snapped a few images of the grand babies with their grandma and the great grands.  Those images will be special for many many years.

Parents sometimes get frustrated with their own children during their sessions.  Photographers are looking through a viewfinder at a different world.  We see eye contact, facial gestures, the flow of the breeze through hair.  Not all images need to have a “cheesing” child in them.  Sometimes it is the serious expressions that tell us a thousand tales.  Yes, a smile is nice.  No, kids do not always want to smile.  Yes, this is totally ok.  Photographers just roll with it.  We are capturing moments for our clients.  Trust us, we are artists. 😉

Janelle’s photo shoot was really awesome.  Like myself, she believes in extended breastfeeding, so of course we took some gorgeous images of her and her sweet daughter nursing.  There is no time like those moments when you are nursing your little one.  They are only so little for such a short period of time.  Sometimes it is extremely hard to embrace the parenting realities when our children are so small.  They need us so much.  We are their first everything.  We become so much to them, their mother, father, nurse, refferee, pacifier, teacher, friend, helper, caregiver, and the list continues.  It is exhausting.  Before I ever considered having children, someone once told me, “Parenting, it is the hardest job you will ever love.” My gosh they were so right.
